Library Bag Sale!

What can wake us all up at 8am on a Saturday? CHEAP BOOKS!

This was lighter sale, we *only* got two bags- but we DID score.

So many books that are on our lists!

AND on the way out, I spotted this book… I wasn’t familiar with the title, but I always stop to checkout pretty hardcovers. This one was large- and then I noticed the names- Weis/Hickman.

I live in a Dragonlance home, so I immediately knew it was special.

But it made me laugh because I now have an immediate reaction to seeing these names, but 20 years ago, I was CLUELESS and had a really funny encounter.

In 2004, I was at ComicCON in San Diego to see Ray Bradbury and Brian Froud (separately- although a panel with them both would have been amazing). Jared and I had gotten tickets for the whole weekend because he wanted to see a Robotech something or other. He ended up having to be on duty (he was in the NAVY) so I went alone the first day- and a couple of my friends were planning to meet up with me later in the afternoon for a panel they were excited about.

I remember scanning the list and seeing that there was a panel directly before Ray Bradbury- and I had the idea that I would register for BOTH and get a good seat at that first panel and stay for Ray Bradbury.

I soon found out- this was no minor panel.

There were people in cosplay- there were people crying.

Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman were apparently LEGENDS and people were going crazy. Standing room only in the back- but I had a great seat. To a panel I knew nothing about.

Later- as I told this story to Jared and our friends, they all got a pretty incredulous, but boisterous, laugh about me accidentally registering myself into a major panel that they would have LOVED to be in- just to get a chance to see my literary idol speak.

Now those authors names are seared into my memory- so I grabbed the book and rushed to Cedric. Im now obviously the best mom ever and he is the proud owner of a $70 rare book that cost us 20 cents.
