While feels like my family is constantly outside- however- some years back… back in Arizona… we heard of the concept of intentional outdoor play and reconnection. We were part of a parenting group based on “natural living” and spent SO much of the day outside. Yes, even in 110 degree days.
The specific 1,000 hours outside movement started by a Michigan Homeschool Mom- and you can learn all about how that has grown at the website. I kind of love that the program is run at our library, and so many public schooled kids come and seem shocked when we say we are homeschoolers. I sometimes wonder if people ever connect the dots about the programs roots.
Us homeschooling families have the privilege of getting a LOT of educational time in outdoors!
This celebration is monthly at the library- and usually focuses on the full moon as a theme. May was Flower Moon!
Juniper did a scavenger hunt, a bookmark craft and made lemonade…
Then went inside to cool off and play for a bit.
We got a flower moon cookie on the way home too 🙂
